What is IMITREX®-

IMITREX® (sumatriptan succinate) is an abortive medication used for the treatment of Migraine attacks in adults. IMITREX® is the oldest of the new 'Tripans' Migraine wonder drugs.

This is a highly effective acute treatment, which appeared in 1993, which will work with efficiency for most Migraineurs, and has very few side effects.

About the Drug-

IMITREX® is the original drawing board up anti-migraine medicine. Now in a much improved delivery system in the form of a single-dose very easy to use nasal spray.

It's chemical name is sumatriptan succinate, created specifically for Migraine disease. So IMITREX® can relieve more than the severe head pain of Migraine - it also relieves the nausea and other symptoms, like sensitivity to light, that often accompany Migraine.

The most frequently seen side effects in clinical trials with IMITREX® Nasal Spray 20 mg were bad/unusual taste 24.5%, placebo 1.7%, and nausea and/or vomiting 13.5%, placebo 11.3%.

When to take IMITREX®-

IMITREX® should be taken at the onset of a Migraine attack. But, if you can't, you should know that IMITREX® is usually effective at any time - even if you take it when your Migraine is at its worst. In addition, IMITREX® is not a narcotic or barbiturate, and, most importantly, according to the manufacturer, in most people IMITREX® does not cause the unpleasant side effect of drowsiness. The most frequently seen side effects are tingling and nasal discomfort.

Using IMITREX® Nasal Spray-

Here are the manufacturer's directions for using the IMITREX® Nasal Spray system-

	1. Remove the IMITREX® Nasal Spray unit from the plastic pack. Do not remove the unit until you are ready to use. The unit contains only one spray; DO NOT test before use.
2. While sitting down, gently blow your nose to clear your nasal passages.
	3. Keeping your head in an upright position, gently close one nostril with your index finger. Breathe out gently through your mouth.
4. With your other hand, hold the container with your thumb supporting it at the bottom, and your index and middle fingers on either side of the nozzle. Insert the nozzle into your open nostril about 1/2 inch. Do not press the blue plunger yet. Keep your head upright and close your mouth.
	5. While gently taking a breath through your nose, release the spray dosage of IMITREX® by firmly pressing the blue plunger.
6. Remove the nozzle from your nostril. At the same time, keep your head level for 10 to 20 seconds while gently breathing in through your nose and breathing out through your mouth. DO NOT BREATHE IN DEEPLY.
