
MAGNUM is proud to add Doctor Mara-Carmen Borrell Wilson to our Board of Directors & Advisors in the capacity of our
Spanish Outreach Medical Advisor. Dr. Wilson brings her outstanding knowledge regarding Migraine as a major public health issue to MAGNUM. In addition, over the next few years MAGNUM wants to effectively reach out to the Hispanic population of the United States, estimated to be 43 million according the U.S. Census Bureau. That is an estimated 5.1 million Hispanic American Migraineurs we hope to better reach. Dr. Wilson will not only be a great asset to help MAGNUM with its mission to educate the national population about Migraine disease, but she also brings her insight as an Hispanic American to help us better reach Americas largest ethnic or race minorityour people of Hispanic origin.
Mara-Carmen B. Wilson, MD, is associate professor of neurology and assistant professor of pediatrics at the University of South Florida College of Medicine in Tampa, Florida. She also serves as the director of the Neurology Pain Medicine Fellowship and the Tampa General Hospital Headache and Pain Center. She is board certified in both, neurology and pain medicine by the American Academy of Neurology and Psychiatry.
A skilled educator, Dr. Wilson was the 1997 recipient of the Department of Neurology Teacher of the Year Award and the 2002 Distinguished Faculty Award at the University to South Florida. She has authored a book titled Doctor me duele la Cabeza, and has written numerous articles as well as several book chapters in her field. Dr. Wilson has conducted multiple clinical trials and is a national and international speaker on the subject of headache and pain management.
